Manchester United is reportedly looking to sell Mason Greenwood this summer, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid expressing interest in the young English forward.

Greenwood, who has spent the season on loan at Getafe in La Liga, has impressed with five goals and five assists in 21 league appearances.

This has attracted more attention than when United attempted to offload him in 2023.

United’s stance on Greenwood’s future has not changed, and they are keen to sell him to help address their Financial Fair Play concerns.

As an academy product, selling Greenwood would represent a significant profit for the club.

Reports claim that United is seeking £34m for the player to avoid an “economic total loss.”

This summer represents United’s final opportunity to secure a sizable fee for Greenwood, as his contract expires in 2025.

While Getafe, his current loan club, would like to keep him, they are unable to match his reported £75,000-a-week salary.

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas has praised Greenwood’s talent but emphasized that talent alone is not enough in football.

He believes that Greenwood has the potential to play for any top club once he reaches his full potential.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have a better chance of meeting United’s asking price, but it remains to be seen whether they consider £34m to be a fair valuation for Greenwood.

Both clubs have had their own financial issues, with Barcelona also undergoing a managerial change at the end of the season with Xavi’s departure.

Despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe now overseeing the sporting side of Manchester United, the club’s position on Greenwood has not changed.

A permanent exit for Greenwood seems likely, as United issued a statement last summer confirming that his time at Old Trafford had come to an end.
