According to reports, Barcelona has expressed interest in signing Manchester United icon David de Gea.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper is said to have a desire to play for a club in La Liga before retiring, and Barcelona is reportedly ready to offer him a contract.

During his time at Manchester United, De Gea won eight trophies and made nearly 550 appearances for the club, keeping 190 clean sheets.

He was also named Player of the Year multiple times and earned a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year on five occasions.

De Gea also won the Premier League Golden Glove twice, including last season.

However, De Gea’s time at Manchester United came to a surprising end as the club rescinded their contract offer, allowing him to leave as a free agent.

He was subsequently replaced by Andre Onana, who has had mixed performances this season.

Various reports have linked De Gea with other high-profile clubs, including Newcastle United and Saudi Pro League teams.

Nevertheless, the Spanish goalkeeper reportedly has his heart set on a move to La Liga, and Barcelona has shown interest in him.

Barcelona’s interest in De Gea is unexpected, given that Marc-Andre ter Stegen is the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, with Inaki Pena serving as a reliable backup.

It remains unclear how De Gea would fit into the team’s plans.

However, Barcelona will reportedly face competition from Sevilla and Real Betis for his signature.
