Ivory Coast forward, Sebastian Haller, has expressed his determination to avenge their previous defeat against Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage.
The two teams are set to face each other in the final showdown of Group A, which will take place in Abidjan on Sunday, February 11.
During the group stage encounter, Nigeria secured a 1-0 victory over the host nation, thanks to William Troost-Ekong’s second-half penalty.
However, Haller, in an interview with BeIn SPORTS, declared that the Elephants are seeking retribution and have their sights set on lifting the trophy this time around.
Acknowledging Nigeria as a formidable opponent, Haller emphasized the motivation within the Ivorian team to claim victory in front of their home crowd.
He stated, “We are playing the AFCON final against Nigeria. It is a great nation. It is heavy. They beat us in the group stage. But we are already motivated to go and lift the trophy on Sunday in this stadium in front of the Ivorian people. We have revenge to take on Nigeria.”
Ivory Coast will aim to capitalize on their home advantage and deliver a performance that secures their redemption against Nigeria.
