Captain of the Senegalese national team, Kalidou Koulibaliy, has revealed that the Super Eagles of Nigeria missed the presence of his Napoli teammate, Victor Osimhen during their outing at the AFCON in Cameroon.
The three time champions of AFCON, Nigeria, emerged as the best team in the group stages of the competition, scooping all the nine points off Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in the Group D.
The Super Eagles however would go on to crash out disappointingly against Tunisia in the second round.
Koulibaly who was instrumental to Senegal’s 3-1 win over Burkina Faso which propelled the Lions of Teranga to securing their second consecutive final of the competition said, “He’s (Osimhen) a big player with great attitude and force which could have helped the Eagles.”
“Many teams were scared of them with the way they started but were unlucky against Tunisia.”
When asked about the chances of Teranga Lions lifting the AFCON title for the first in their history, the Napoli defender said, “We just have to believe and give our best as we aim to make history here.”
“We have faith and now we’ll battle to win it.”
