Nigeria Professional Football League side Rivers United stun Al Masry of Egypt in the African Confederations Cup playoff with a 2-1 win at home on Sunday.
The Nigeria side hit the ground running after 25 minutes into the game courtesy goal from Uche Onwuasanya following an assist from Malachi Ohawume.
Al Masry levelled the score just two minutes later when winger Mohamed Antar converted a cross from Nigeria midfielder Emeka Eze.
While the Egyptian outfit thought they’re growing into the game, Ishaq Kayode shocked the visitors with a second goal following a second assist from Malachi Ohawume.
With the victory at home for Rivers, they’re now one leg into the next round of the competition, while Al Masry is now at risk of missing out on a place in the group stage should they fail to redeem themselves in the second leg in Alexandria.
