Nigeria and Napoli are at loggerheads over Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, who was initially billed to return to competitive action by January which would see ruled out of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
However, his accelerated recovery has prompted the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to push for an earlier return of the forward.
Osimhen was released from hospital last week after a successful operation on his cheekbone, and returned to light training on Wednesday pending the time his cleared fit to resume contact training.
While the 22 year old is gradually getting back his fitness following his surgery, the NFF wants him to be part of the Super Eagles camp which opens in late December in preparation for the AFCON 2021.
According to report in Italy, it is believed that the Partenopei are not comfortable with the idea and have opted to invite the Nigeria medical team to assess Osimhen so as to decide if he would be fit enough for the mundial in Cameroon.
While it is still not confirmed if the towering striker would make it to AFCON, football loving Nigerian enthusiast will hope to see Osimhen at the tournament having been Super Eagles go to man in front of goal.
