NFF issues FIFA badges to 29 referees, urge them to be upright

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has issued FIFA badges to 29 referees and charged them to be upright in their duties.

At the badging ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Goal Project, Abuja on Wednesday, NFF president Ibrahim Gusau urged international referees from the country to uphold integrity regulations.

The NFF also promised prompt payments directly to referees before their matches and ordered match commissioners to ensure all referees are placed on speakers and recorded at all times during games.

Mr. Gusau said that the NFF will call referees ahead of every match, stressing that poor performances in continental competitions should no longer be an issue for Nigeria teams.

Meanwhile, Tade Azeez, president of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), encouraged these elite officials to make use of chances accorded them and reach the peak of their international career before retirement.

Faith Irabor, chairman of the NFF Referees’ Committee asserted that her department is committed to keeping officials up-to-date and rid Nigerian football of bad officiating.
