Francesco Acerbi, born 10th February, 1988, is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Inter Milan in Serie A and the Italy national team.

According to research Francesco is the second child in the family, while Sabrina her sister is eldest and Federico the youngest of the siblings.

Acerbi’s journey into the world of football began under the watchful eyes and guidance of his late father, Roberto Acerbi, whom Francesco shared a deep connection with before he passed away.

As a kid he started honing his skills as a forward with the Pavia youth team, where he faced a semi-drunken challenges.

Francesco Acerbi Club’s Career

Acerbi started his career at Lombard team Pavia, making his official debut on 23 April 2006 before he was loaned out to Serie D side Rebate on 11 January, 2007.

He returned to Pavia on January 30 during the 20006-07, and thereafter got loaned to Triestina and Spezia in the same year.

Acerbi also had a stint with Reggina considering the co-ownership between the club and Pavia who later sold the remaining 50 percent of his registration rights.

He also moved to Genoa on the same co-ownership deal for €1 million before he was outrightly signed by the club for €2.2 million.

The Lion also joined Chievo another side who brought him onboard via a co-ownership deal for €2 million, and instantly entered in the starting lineup of the team.

Francesco also played at AC Milan having bought Chievo’s 50 percent share of his deal, with Genoa retaining the remaining half of his registration rights.

His time at AC Milan didn’t go well due to the death of his father, which he revealed that during his time at Milan he suffered from depression, and often relied on alcohol to quell his emotional pain.

Acerbi also had stint at Sassuolo, even though it was at a time he was diagnosed with testicular tumor that led to him been operated on to remove the tumor.

On the 11th of July 2018, he joined Lazio on a five year contract, and went on to play 149 games for the Biancocelesti during his time at the club.

He moved to Inter Milan on loan, replacing the departed Andrea Ranocchia, and on the 7th of 2023 Inter Milan exercised their buy option clause and signed Acerbi permanently.

Acerbi began is national team career with the U-20 at the first match of the 2008-09 Mirop Cup where they lose to Hungary.

He received his first senior team call-up from Cesare Prandelli on the 12th August, 2012 and made his senior debut on the 18th November, 2014 in a 1-0 friendly win over Albania.

He also played under the tutelage of Roberto Mancini during the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Finland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In June 2021, he was also included in Italy’s squad for UEFA Euro 2020, a competition Italy went ahead to win against England in the final.
