Luis Rubiales, the suspended President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), is facing the possibility of a historic ban from FIFA.
Rubiales has already received a three-month ban, but FIFA is seeking a much lengthier suspension of 15 years.
The case is currently going through the Spanish legal system, with the High Committee for Sport (CSD) filing a formal complaint to the Sports Tribunal (TAD).
TAD will determine whether the case constitutes a serious or very serious infraction and whether to open a disciplinary case against Rubiales.
FIFA is urging for the maximum punishment to be given.
Despite public opinion being strongly against Rubiales in Spain, his resignation has not been forthcoming.
It seems that he may have to be forcibly removed from his position.
