Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has dismissed rumors linking him to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian League.
Despite his impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped Nigeria secure a Silver medal, Nwabali has stated that he has not received any official offers from clubs.
Nwabali, who hails from Rivers State, Nigeria, has been the subject of transfer speculations following his outstanding display at the tournament.
He kept four clean sheets and conceded only four goals in seven games, playing a crucial role in Nigeria’s journey to the final.
Reports had suggested that Royale Union Saint-Gilloise was interested in signing the Nigerian shot-stopper during the summer transfer window.
However, in an interview with South Africa online news platform SNL24, Nwabali clarified that he has only seen these offers online and hasn’t received any concrete offers.
Despite the transfer rumors, Nwabali remains focused on his career and is waiting for any official offers that may come his way.
He expressed gratitude for the support he has received and the increase in his Instagram following, which grew from 27k to 703k followers within three weeks.
Nwabali’s remarkable performance at the Africa Cup of Nations did not go unnoticed, as he was honored with a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award by President Bola Tinubu.
He also received a traditional title from the Rivers State government in recognition of his outstanding outing in Ivory Coast.
As of now, Nwabali remains committed to Chippa United and will continue to showcase his skills in the South African league until any official offers materialize.
