Organizers of the NPFL, the LMC, has made some adjustments to the matchday one fixtures of the 2021-2022 NPFL season billed to kick off on Friday, December 17, 2021.
The league body in a letter dated December 15, 2021, signed by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the LMC, Salihu Abubakar, the league body made exception to this season’s opener between MFM and Remo Stars, while all other matches will be payed on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
A part of the letter reads:
“Kindly refer to our earlier circular endorsing the full fixtures for the 2021/2022 season and note that all the matches for match day 1 are hereby moved to be played on Sunday, 19th of December with exception of the opening game; MFM vs Remo Stars which will be played on Friday 17th December at Mobolaji Johnson Onikan Stadium at 6:00pm”
While Akwa United are the defending champions of the league, Niger Tornadoes, Gombe United and Remo Stars are all the three newcomers who secured promotion yo the elite league from the Nigeria National League (NNL).
