Asisat Oshoala, a Nigerian football star, is among the nominees for the Socrates Award at the Ballon d’Or gala in October.
The Socrates Award recognizes football players who have made significant contributions to charity work.
Oshoala is nominated alongside Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, Vinicius Junior and Antonio Rudiger from Real Madrid, and Alex Morgan from the United States.
Last year, Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich won the inaugural award for his charity work in Senegal.
The Socrates Award aims to highlight the best solidarity actions by dedicated members of the football community.
Oshoala’s nomination is a result of her work with the Oshoala Academy, while the other nominees have their own foundations or have made notable efforts to address issues such as child food poverty.
