Gotham City striker, Ifeoma Onumonu is relishing the fight to earn a starting role in the Super Falcons.
Onumonu started five out of Super Falcons’ six games at last year’s Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Things are now different this time around with experienced forward, Desire Oparanozie and newbie Esther Okoronwko now in the team.
The 29-year-old also has Barcelona Femeni star, Asisat Oshoala, Uchenna Kanu and Monday Gift to contend with it.
Onumonu however said she is up for the fight.
“I’m incredibly excited,”she told ESPN.
“More than anything, it [the competition for a place] increases my focus.
“I’ve never been to a World Cup so this is going to be my first big international tournament. It is going to be difficult and I’m preparing for that.”
