Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface have emerged as the players with the most nominations for the 2023 Nigeria Pitch Awards. Osimhen, the reigning African Player of the Year, has been nominated in four categories, while Boniface has been nominated in two categories.
Osimhen has been nominated for the Striker of the Year award, alongside Boniface, who has been making waves in the Bundesliga with his goal-scoring prowess, and Robert Mizo of Bayelsa United. Osimhen is also in the running for the King of the Pitch award, where he will compete against Boniface and Emeka Obioma of Enyimba Football Club.
Additionally, Osimhen has been nominated for the prestigious Sam Okwaraji Award, where he will face competition from Kunle Soname, Remo Stars Chairman, and Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa.
His final nomination is in the Sportsmanship Award category, where he will be up against Kunle Soname, Remo Stars Chairman, and Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman of the NPFL Board.
In other categories, the reigning African Women’s Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, will be vying for the Queen of the Pitch Award, along with Atlético de Madrid Femenino striker Rasheedat Ajibade and Paris FC goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozi.
The Defender of the Year Award will see Super Eagles defenders Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, and Bright Osayi-Samuel competing for the title.
For the Midfielder of the Year Award, Alex Iwobi, AI Hassan Yusuf, and Wilfred Ndidi have been nominated.

The 10th edition of the Nigeria Pitch Award, originally scheduled for March 29, has been postponed to a later date. The organisers will announce the new date for the grand ceremony after consulting with all partners.
