Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club is interested in signing French forward Kylian Mbappe.

The 25-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, having informed Paris Saint-Germain that he does not intend to extend his stay with the club.

Mbappe has been linked with a move away from PSG for several years, and it appears that this summer he will finally depart.

Liverpool and Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in signing Mbappe as a free agent.

However, Arteta acknowledges that Real Madrid’s long-term pursuit of the player could be a major obstacle for Arsenal.

Despite this, Arteta believes that when there is a player of Mbappe’s caliber, Arsenal has to be in the conversation.

Real Madrid has been a long-term admirer of Mbappe and has made several unsuccessful attempts to sign him in the past.

However, it seems that their persistence may pay off this summer, as negotiations between the player and the club are already underway.

Arsenal, on the other hand, will be hoping that the prospect of challenging for the Premier League title and the admiration that Mbappe has for Arsenal legend Thierry Henry could convince him to consider a move to north London.

The Gunners did not make any major signings in the January transfer window, choosing to retain funds for the summer.

If Arsenal can convince Mbappe to snub Real Madrid, they could potentially make him the face of Arteta’s young and exciting team.

However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can compete with the lucrative offer already on the table from Madrid.
