Real Madrid star, Luka Modric made history on Wednesday night, becoming the oldest player to feature in the UEFA Super Cup.

The Croatian midfielder was in action for 67 minutes as Real battled it out with Eintracht Frankfurt at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Finland.

Modric was about 36 years and 11 months old on the day of the match.

Meanwhile, the three closest midfielders to him are Mirko Votava, Gary McAllister and Arnold Mühren.

Votava was 9 months greater than 36 years when he played for SV Werder Bremen against Barcelona in the 1993 edition.

McAllister and Mühren were 3 and 4 months younger than Modric’s current age when they took part in the 2001 and 1988 editions respectively.

This record makes the Croatian star the fourth oldest player to play in the competition.

The three older players are Amedeo Carboni, Edwin van der Sar and Javier Zanetti.

The trio were about 39; 37 years and 10 months; 37 years and 17 days respectively when they played in the Super Cup.
