Leon Goretzka National Team Career

Goretzka started his international football journey with the German U-16 team, scoring his first goal in his debut match against Northern Ireland.

He also played for the U-17 team where he captained the team during the European Championship, helping the side to finish as runner-up.

Having impressed managers in the German national teams set-up, he progressed to the U-21 team making his debut against France in 2013.

Goretzka earned his first senior call-up under the tutelage of Joachim Low in 2014, and in preparation for the World Cup he was named in preliminary squad.
