Denzel Dumfries: Chelsea, Man Utd make contact with Inter Milan star

Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly entered the race for Denzel Dumfries, a 26-year-old Inter Milan defender.

According to Calciomercato, the Premier League giants are in touch with Dumfries’s representatives regarding a potential transfer to England.

The Dutchman has been at the Giuseppe Meazza since 2021 and has been highly productive, racking up seven goals and ten assists in 68 games across all competitions.

His attacking commitment is his main strength, but he could do with some development in his defensive play.

Manchester United would be well-served by bringing him on board as coach Erik ten Hag is familiar with his style from his days playing in the Eredivisie.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also keen on signing him but already have an agreement in place to get Malo Gusto from Lyon during the summer months.

Whether their pursuit of Dumfries will continue remains to be seen.

Inter Milan value them at over €50 million plus bonuses and have identified Tajon Trevor Buchanan as a potential replacement if his reported departure does come to pass.
