Bernd Storck identifies another Nigerian striker as Onuachu’s replacement

KRC Genk manager, Bernd Storck, has named Ike Ugbo as a replacement for Super Eagles’ forward, Paul Onuachu, following his lengthy injury.

Onuachu has been confirmed to be out of action for four weeks after a scan revealed that he suffered a muscle tear during his side’s 1-1 draw with Royal Antwerp last Tuesday.

The lanky striker has also been ruled out of the oncoming African Cup of Nations to begin in Cameroon next year.

His injury came as a big blow to Genk, having scored twelve goals in the current season and remains a big part of Bernd Storck led Genk.

Storck however, has said he would give the former Chelsea player a chance to fill the void left in the squad by the Super Eagles star.

“Ugbo will replace Onuachu,” Storck was quoted as saying by Voetbalkrant.

“I make no secret of that. When I arrived, I told Iké straight away that he can only play in position 9 for me, but that Onuachu is my number 1 there.”

“He was a little disappointed at the time. But now it’s his turn. He knows that. I believe in him.”
