Ancelotti Reveals He Dreamed of Managing Liverpool

Here Is The Easy Money-Making Trick Everyone Is Talking About! Learn More Here!

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that managing Liverpool was once his dream job. The Real Madrid manager also confirmed that he turned down the chance to coach the Italy national team in 2018.

According to Goal, Ancelotti held discussions with Liverpool after Brendan Rodgers was sacked in October 2015. However, the club chose Jurgen Klopp, who has since become one of their most successful managers. Not long after, Ancelotti agreed to take over from Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, starting at the end of the 2015–16 season.

Although he didn’t join the Reds, Ancelotti eventually moved to Merseyside in 2019 to manage their rivals, Everton. While speaking to journalist Armando Ceroni on Swiss station RSI, he reflected on the intensity of the local rivalry and his experience with the Toffees.

He admitted, “My dream was to coach Liverpool, but then I found myself at Everton and I experienced their rivalry, and now I am absolutely an Everton fan.” He added that the supporters’ passion and their emotional connection to the club left a lasting impression on him.

In another part of the interview, Ancelotti said he declined an offer from the Italian Football Federation to coach the national team. The offer came before Roberto Mancini took charge and led Italy to a European Championship title.

“I said no to the Italian national team because I didn’t feel like it,” he explained. “I really like being on the pitch every day preparing for training, and the national team seemed like a part-time job that made me lose a bit of passion.”

Ancelotti’s current contract with Real Madrid runs until 2026. However, the upcoming weeks could be decisive. Madrid trail Barcelona by four points in La Liga and face a tough Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday after a heavy 3-0 loss in the first leg.

Should Real Madrid fall short in Europe and fail to close the domestic gap, questions may arise about Ancelotti’s future at the Bernabéu.
