Updated

Nigeria National team would be regrouping for this month’s African Cup of Nations clash with Jose Peseiro hoping to name his squad for the encounter.

And a couple of Nigerian lads are doing well with the hope of breaking into the Senior National side known as the Super Eagles.

While others are hoping to get a first call-up to the National team as well.

Following the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers, we evaluate the three magnificent players nearing a possible Super Eagles (Nigeria) call-up at the moment.

Chuba Akpom (Middlesbrough, England)

The Middlesbrough talent would hope to make it to the Super Eagles squad soon, despite rejecting a chance to don Nigeria’s green and white Jersey in the past.

Akpom has been relatively outstanding for Michael Carrick’s led side this season in the Sky Bet Championship.

And with Boro placed third in the League Standing behind Burnley and Sheffield United respectively, he could get his wish later this month when the Super Eagles squad is announced.

Folarin Balogun (Reims, France)

The talented Arsenal loanee could be on his way to being a Super Eagles player following his decent run of form in the French Ligue 1 this term.

Balogun has outscored Superstars in the likes of PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in the Ligue 1.

Even Nigeria striker Terem Moffi can’t yet match his goal-scoring record this campaign playing in the same League.

This and more could force Nigeria’s boss Jose Peseiro to hand him a first call-up to the National team as the qualifiers draw close by the way.

Gift Orban (KAA Gent, Belgium)

The 20 years Old forward have been instrumental to his sides’ fortune in the year following his move from Norwegian Second Division side Stabaek.

His quality showings for his new side have drawn comparison with Nigeria’s Moses Simon who played for the club in the past.

Orban scored the goal in his side’s 1-0 win over Belgian giants Anderlecht at the weekend.

And he could get a chance to make his Nigerian debut soon as Nigeria gets set to announce their squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers later this month.
