Cyprus based Nigerian defender, Shehu Abdullahi, is confident that the return of Al-Shabab striker, Odion Ighalo to the national team will yeild good tidings for the national team as the coach and the players believes in his abilities.
The former Manchester United forward called time on his international career after helping Nigeria to a third placed finish at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt where he also emerged as the tournament’s top scorer.
But two years after his exit from the national team, the 32-year old forward has made a surprising return to the national team after his name was included in Gernot Rohr’s list for the final two games of the Qatar 2022 FIFA Worldcup qualifiers later this Month.
Meanwhile, his teammates in the national team, Shehu Abdullahi, sees nothing wrong in the return of Ighalo to the Super Eagles as he believes he still could be of great help to the three time African champions.
His words: “We are all happy to have Ighalo back in the team. With his experience Ighalo is a top player that everyone looks up to,”
“To have Ighalo back in the team is good for all of us, he will help the team, I am sure the coach trust him and we trust him too.”
“With his experience I think a lot of players there in the team will learn a lot from him so we are happy to have him back.” Shehu Abdullahi said o Supersport’s NaijaMade football show.
