Marcus Rashford will return to Manchester United this summer after Aston Villa decided against signing him permanently, IsaGoal can report.
The 27-year-old striker joined Villa on loan in January and made an instant impact, contributing four goals and six assists in 17 appearances.
His standout moment came in the Champions League quarter-final second leg against PSG, where he starred in a thrilling 3-2 win, though Villa fell 5-4 on aggregate.
Unai Emery previously praised Rashford’s resurgence but hinted that a permanent transfer would depend on future circumstances and internal discussions.
“It’s difficult to plan now,” Emery said after the PSG match. “If he’s happy, we are happy… but it depends on the next weeks.”
Two months later, Villa confirmed Rashford would return to Old Trafford as they chose not to activate the £40m buy clause.
The club released a statement thanking departing players, including Rashford, Marco Asensio, Axel Disasi, Robin Olsen, and Kortney Hause.
“Aston Villa would like to thank… our loan players as they return to their respective parent clubs,” the statement read.
Rashford’s return offers Manchester United a chance to cash in elsewhere, as he remains linked with a move to Barcelona amid a frosty relationship with manager Ruben Amorim.
The forward was frozen out of the squad last season and is not believed to be in Amorim’s long-term plans.
