Peter Onyekachi’s goal helps Hapoel Petah Tikva return to winning ways

Peter Onyekachi, former Enyimba and Abia Warriors forward, was on song on Friday as his solitary goal helped Hapoel Petah Tikva return to winning ways.

The 27-year old who had been in search for his first goal in the Israeli Leumit League opened his goal account for the club in a spectacular fashion, scoring the only goal which gave his side a big home win in the league.

Onyekachi and his Hapoel Petah Tikva side were faced with a tougher test on Matchday 11 when they locked horns against a top ranked Ms Kafr Qasim who were in some great form prior to yesterday.

In form, Ms Kafr Qasim expected a ‘tea party’ at the, HaMoshava Stadium, with high shoulders and confidence of upsetting the home team to cart away all maximum points and move to the summit of the log.

The hosts settled in the game pretty well, showing great intents right from the get go and it paid off for them before half time when the Nigerian international placed himself inside the opponents six yard and headed home a swift cross and in then sending the home fans into frenzy.

With the visitors trailing behind at half time, on return for the second half, they tried all they could to get an equalizer, made a couple of changes and intensified things upfront but everything came to naught as Hapoel Petah Tikva defence line defended stoutly and rebuffed all that was huffed and puffed at them by their rampaging opponents.

At full time, It was Peter Onyekachi’s 18th minute strike that seperated the two sides to return Hapoel Petah Tikva to winning ways.
