Patrick Vieira Blast Palace’s Players For Been Profligate At Leeds

Crystal Palace’s gaffer Patrick Vieira has slammed his players for been profligate in front of goal at Leeds, following an injury time penalty from Brazil’s winger Raphinha on Tuesday night.

The Brazil international secured three point for the home side at Elland Road, leaving the visitors to rue a series of missed chances that went begging in the game.

Christian Benteke had the best opportunity just five minutes after coming in to put Palace ahead, but the Belgian headed Zaha’s cross wide from close range.

Vieira’s boys kept pushing high up their opponent box, with the Belgian forward once again blessed with another chance late on but the Leeds shot-stopper Meslier denied the former Liverpool star before his shot crossed the line.

Palace’s defeat to Leeds means Vieira side has lose twice within four days, following their 2-1 loss at home to Aston Villa last weekend and the defeat makes the Frenchman frustrated.

Vieira speaking after the game, “I’m frustrated because we were the better team. When you don’t put your chances, you know you can get punished.”

“I don’t want to focus on the penalty. We had a couple of good chances, especially in the second half we didn’t have the technical ability to play the right ball at the right time in the right space. I thought we were really unlucky.”

A win at Elland Road will have take Palace to seventh on the Premier League table, but instead they remained 12th as they set to bounce back this weekend away at Manchester United.
