Super Eagles assistant coach, Joseph Yobo has revealed that the team will miss the service of Victor Osimhen in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
Recall that the Nigerian international fractured his cheekbone in Napoli’s 3-2 loss to Super Eagles at the Giuseppe Meaza last Sunday. Osimhen walked off with a swollen cheekbone and black eye after clashing with Milan Skriniar in Inter’s box.
Reacting to Osimhen’s injury, Yobo stated that the Napoli’s determination and hunger for goals will be greatly miss at the bi-annual tournament.
“It is shocking to hear that such an integral part of the national team is going to be missing the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
“He is a big player, but his health is more important. It is a blow for the national team.
“Osimhen is a young lad who has a lot of potentials and is still developing. “I had a chat with him recently and I reminded him of how great he could be. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
