Paris Saint Germain star Lionel Messi is keen on a return to Barcelona, the Argentine reiterated his desire to go back to Spain one day.
Messi’s time at the Nou Camp came to end in the summer after Barcelona’s financial turmoil meant he could not be offered a new contract.
The six time Ballon d’Or winner has now expressed his intentions to eventually return to Spain and has now reinforced his preference to play for the Catalan giant again.
Messi told popular Spanish tabloid Marca that, “I have always said that I was going to return to Barcelona in some moment, because it was my home and I lived there.”
“I would always like to help the club in whatever way I can and obviously, if I can contribute and help the club, I would love to return.”
The Barcelona faithful thought the Argentine will sign a new deal, but he walked away from the team leaving them to join Paris Saint Germain following the expiration of his contract.
Since joining the Parisians club Messi has only scored four goals and one assist in nine appearances for the French giant, and his first goal over Nantes last weekend brought to mind what the Argentine his capable of when fully fit.
With Messi’s former teammate Xavi Hernandez now back as a coach at Barcelona, we could see the reunion of the Argentine and his friends back in Nou Camp one day.
