Manchester United have held talks with Ernesto Valverde over Interim role untill the end of season, as the search for a new manager continues.
According to report the former Barcelona boss is the number candidate to have spoken with United’s hierarchy, and it is understood that other prominent managers are also in the frame for the job.
United are said to be conducting a thorough process to appoint an interim manager, following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last week after his embarrassing defeat to Watford.
Valverde has been out of management since he was sacked at Barcelona, despite topping LaLiga Santander table at the time of his sacking in January 2020.
The former Bilbao boss also won two Spanish titles and Copa del Rey during his two and a half spell at the Nou Camp, he also achieved commendable success in Greece winning three titles for Greek champions Olympiakos.
While United have held talks with Ernesto Valverde, it is also reported that the Old Trafford side are interested in Ajax head coach Erik Ten Hag and Paris Saint Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino who said to be their first choice for a permanent position.
However, it is understood that the former Espanyol boss said on Monday he is “so happy at Paris and will not allow United’s interest to distract him from his current role.”
