Man Utd's Old Trafford Could Be Demolished as Part of Qatari Takeover Proposal

It is reported that if Qatar Sports Investment, a company owned by the royal family of Qatar, manages to purchase the club from their current owners, the Glazers, they could invest over £2 billion into redeveloping or replacing their historic ground.

Alternatively, they could build a completely new state-of-the-art stadium on the same site; however, this could encounter issues as they would own two football clubs competing in Europe – United and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Though United have recently spent large sums of money on transfers, facilities at Old Trafford and their training ground in Carrington have been neglected for some time; other rival clubs such as Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur having significantly updated stadiums more recently.

If the sale does indeed proceed it could mark a new era at one of English football’s most storied clubs.
