Man Utd to revive interest in Victor Osimhen in January transfer window

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly still on the radar of Manchester United who are expected to make another move on him in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils have allegedly been long-term admirers of the Napolistriker, who was strongly linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford over the summer.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United could revive their interest in the 23-year-old in the winter window, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford still uncertain.

The Nigerian international, who still has three years remaining on his contract in Naples, insisted last month that he is not looking to leave the Serie A club any time soon.

“I’m in Napoli. And I have great respect for my club,” the striker told Corriere dello Sport. “They are just rumours of the market. I’m fine here and I’ve never had such close relationships with everyone as at this moment.

“I spoke to the president, he is the one who decides, and he reassured me by explaining the club’s plans. I am happy with what he told me and the purchases are of quality: words were followed by deeds. I am very happy to play with Napoli and we will see in the future.”

Osimhen became the most expensive African footballer in history when he joined Napoli from Lille in a deal worth around £70m in July 2020.

It is thought that Napoli now value the Nigerian at around £100m, a figure which could discourage potential suitors such as United, who will allegedly hand Erik ten Hag £70m to spend on reinforcements in January.
