Liverpool Shocked by Player’s Request for New Contract

Here Is The Easy Money-Making Trick Everyone Is Talking About! Learn More Here!

Liverpool is bracing themselves for a busy summer as they anticipate significant changes at Anfield. However, they were reportedly taken aback by Luis Diaz’s request for a new contract.

The winger, who has recently been linked with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, has expressed his desire for an extension that reflects his current form. Since the start of the year, Diaz has been in outstanding form, scoring five goals and providing three assists in his last ten Premier League appearances.

Although he was signed from Porto in January 2022, he has yet to extend his initial five-and-a-half-year agreement. This has prompted the 27-year-old to request a new contract through his agent.

Despite having three years remaining on his current deal, Diaz wants terms that align with his impressive performances. Liverpool, however, has pointed out that there is still ample time left on his contract and are not overly impressed with the timing of the request, considering the recent transfer rumors surrounding the player.

Nevertheless, the club is open to discussing an extension with one of their key players. They have informed Diaz’s representatives that the matter will be revisited in the summer but have clarified that it is not a priority at the moment.

The responsibility of handling this situation falls on Michael Edwards, FSG’s new CEO of football, who has returned to Anfield after a two-year absence as sporting director. Edwards, now working under the club’s owners, will oversee football matters at Liverpool, while Richard Hughes, previously at Bournemouth, will assume Edwards’s former role.

Hughes, highly regarded by Edwards, played a crucial part in persuading him to return to the club. With a new manager expected to join Liverpool soon, Hughes will have a busy summer of transition ahead.

In addition to Diaz’s contract situation, Liverpool also faces the pressing issue of Mohamed Salah’s future. With only 12 months left on his contract come summer, the club icon will have more say in determining his destiny.

Saudi Arabian clubs are expected to reignite their interest in luring Salah to the Middle East. Liverpool, who rejected world-record bids for the Egyptian winger last year, may have less negotiating power this time around.
