Nigeria would be facing their Guinea-Bissau counterpart at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja on the 24th of March before taking the trip to Guinea-Bissau three days later.

However, ahead of the build-up to the match, there are certain matters and debates arising based on the players that made the 23-man list.

Here, Isagoal.com gives an analytical review of Jose Peseiro’s squad list ahead of the game.

The goalkeeping department, saw Francis Uzoho, Victor Sochima and Kingsley Aniagboso make the cut.

While the defence line comprises names like Oluwaseyi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi and Kenneth Omeruo among the group.23-man squad to represent Nigeria at AFCON qualifiers - AlimoshoToday.com The goalkeeping area is one part of the team that has threatened the progress of the Super Eagles in recent times.

With mistakes from Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho proved too costly in games against Tunisia and Ghana respectively last year.

Now it’s only Uzoho that has international experience among the three goalkeepers in the Super Eagles squad.

While able hands like Ayodele Adeleye and Arsenal’s Arthur Okonkwo with a good physique are not yet in view of a call-up anytime soon.

It’s a problem by all stakes with Oyibo wall Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong missing the Guinea-Bissau tie.

How Tyronne Ebuehi missed out on the list is still a surprise with the right-back netting a goal for Empoli in their 2-1 loss to Atalanta in the Serie A.Nigeria vs Guinea-Bissau: Predicting Super Eagles' 23-man squad | Goal.com Nigeria

Nigeria may be fine and rearing to go from the left back with Zaidu Sanusi and Calvin Bassey available for selection.

But do we have the defensive balance from the Nigeria point of view? That’s the big question to note ahead of the match against Guinea-Bissau.

In the midfield, Nigeria has its greatest problem with names like Raphael Onyedika and Oghenekaro Etebo conspicuously missing from the list.Nigeria Super Eagles squad: Introducing Peseiro's 23 men for Guinea-Bissau, with Osimhen headlining | Goal.com NigeriaAnd one would think that having only the quartet of Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Frank Onyeka and Wilfred Ndidi in midfield should necessitate for more personnel in midfield.

While Kelechi Nwakali and Eberechi Eze seem to be far away from having the opportunity to rescue Nigeria’s midfield from its doldrums.

In the attack, it’s noteworthy to see how Paul Onuachu who by no means should have been left out to find his feet at his new club Southampton.

Thus seeing the likes of Chuba Akpom and highly talented Gift Orban missing from the attacking slots. However, with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen, Nigeria would have enough firepower to overcome Guinea-Bissau in Abuja this weekend.2023 Afcon Qualifiers: Osimhen and Lookman in as Peseiro names Nigeria squad for Guinea Bissau - Soccernet NG

But picking the right players is what defines a manager of true integrity. Just as Nigeria has criticized the place of Paul Onuachu and Ahmed Musa in the stead of the aforementioned  Orban, Akpom and Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun.

With Super Eagles players currently in training, Nigeria is expected to win especially with the attacking talent on show. But how well the defenders coordinate the attack will be key as we advance under Jose Peseiro.

Even as we recall that skipper Troost-Ekong and Balogun will be missing from this tie in essence. Hoping that Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman will provide the flair Nigeria needs to flourish up front in the attack.

While we also look to see what Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi make up in Nigeria’s attacking midfield position.
