Rangers and Nigeria defender Leon Balogun has hinted that he does not regret choosing the Super Eagles ahead of country of birth Germany.
The Berlin born have a Nigerian-Yoruba father and a German mother, but decided to play for Nigeria rather than Germany the country of his mother.
Since deciding to represent Nigeria ahead of Germany, he has played for the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup and 2019 African Cup of Nations finals.
While there are other Nigerian born players playing for foreign countries, the Rangers star maintained that he does not have any reason to regret his decision.
“I’ve played a World Cup with Nigeria, I’m going to play AFCON with Nigeria, I have faced great teams with Nigeria so would you regret it?”
“There is no point in me regretting anything. I’m super grateful and it’s always a great experience to be here, I love the different vibe.”
Balogun has played 42 international matches for Super Eagles and has scored once which was against Central African Republic in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in October this year.
While the defender looks forward to be included in the AFCON squad in Cameroon, he helped the Super Eagles qualify for next year’s African Cup of Nations billed for January 9 to February 6.
