‘How We Stopped Mohamed Salah’ — Eguavoen

Super Eagles head coach Austine Eguavoen has explained how his side tamed Egypt captain Mohamed Salah in their 1-0 win on Tuesday.

Salah was expected to make things difficult for the Super Eagles defence in the game, but failed to make much impact.

The Liverpool forward failed to register a shot on target, while the Super Eagles dominated the game all through.

“Our main objevtive was to win the game, cut off Salah and keep the ball and we did all that,” Eguavoen said after the game at the Stade Roumde Adija, Garoua.

“We played direct and we also kept the ball.

“We will continue to approach each game as a cup final.”

Nigeria’s next game in the 2021 AFCON finals is against Sudan on Saturday.
