De Bruyne, Haaland in contention for UEFA Player of the Year award alongside Messi

Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, both from Manchester City, have been named as finalists for the men’s UEFA Player of the Year award.

They are joined by Lionel Messi, who recently joined Inter Miami. The finalists were chosen by a jury consisting of coaches from UEFA clubs, national team coaches, and select journalists.

The winner will be announced on August 31 at the Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Monaco.

Haaland was the top scorer in the Champions League last season, while De Bruyne played a crucial role in Manchester City’s first-ever trophy win.

Other nominees include Pep Guardiola for Coach of the Year and Simone Inzaghi and Luciano Spalletti for their achievements with Inter Milan and Napoli, respectively.
