Cristiano Ronaldo’s much-anticipated reunion with Lionel Messi will have to wait as the Portuguese star is sidelined with a calf injury, according to Al-Nassr coach Luis Castro. Ronaldo’s absence means he will not be able to participate in the gala match between Al-Nassr and Inter Miami in Riyadh on Thursday.
Castro confirmed in a press conference that Ronaldo is in the final stages of his recovery and is expected to join the team in the coming days. However, his absence for the match against Inter Miami is inevitable.
The rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo during their time in Spain, playing for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively, is legendary. Together, they have dominated the football world, winning 13 of the last 15 Ballon d’Or awards for the best player in the world.
The clash between Messi and Ronaldo was supposed to be the highlight of Miami’s preseason tour, which included two matches in Saudi Arabia.
Unfortunately, Ronaldo’s injury has cast doubt on this much-anticipated showdown, leading Al-Nassr to postpone two gala matches in China this month.
