Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku has suffered a knee injury during a pre-season match against Borussia Dortmund.
However, it has been reported that the injury is not serious and Nkunku will only be out of action for a few weeks.
While this news is a relief for Chelsea, it is still a blow as Nkunku is expected to miss their Premier League opener against Liverpool.
This comes at a time when Chelsea is already facing a shortage of options in attack, with Armando Broja recovering from a long-term injury and Romelu Lukaku seeking a move to Juventus.
However, Nicolas Jackson has shown promise during pre-season and is likely to be given a chance to start in light of Nkunku’s injury.
The injury has unfortunately disrupted the developing relationship between Nkunku and his teammates during the pre-season tour.
As a result, Chelsea may consider signing Dusan Vlahovic, a 23-year-old player, to provide additional competition in the attack.
