According to reports, Chelsea is considering Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson as a potential alternative to Michael Olise this summer.
Chelsea had triggered Olise’s release clause but he ultimately signed a new contract with Crystal Palace.
Palace is reportedly unhappy with Chelsea’s approach and may formally report them.
As a result, Chelsea has turned its attention to Johnson and discussions are underway.
Forest values Johnson at £45 million and there is also interest from Tottenham and West Ham.
Chelsea is expected to sell several current players to balance their finances, including left-back Lewis Hall who is set to join Newcastle in a deal worth £28 million.
The club has identified six other players who could be sold this summer to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Chelsea recently broke the British transfer record by signing Moisés Caicedo from Brighton for £115 million and is also preparing to announce the signing of Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia for £58 million.
