CAFCC: Enyimba awaits CAF’s decision following appeal

Chairman of Enyimba Football Club international, Felix Anyasi-Agwu has revealed that the club have appealed to have their rescheduled first leg CAF Confederations Cup tie replayed against Al Ittihad replayed at a different venue and that it awaits the decision of CAF.

It would be recalled that The People’s Elephants were billed to play Al Ittihad on November 28 in Tunisia but were barred from entering the North African country due to stringent COVID-19 restrictions.

As a result, the match was postponed, leaving CAF to consult its Interclub Committee Commission, who have decided to have the match played between December 17 and 19 in Benghazi, Libya.

CAF’s Interclub Committee meanwhile, also rejected Ittihad’s appeal to have the match ruled in there favour as a walkover.

Also, CAF gave Al Ittihad til December 10 to communicate with it and Enyimba the ideal date, venue and logistics for the rescheduled match but Anyasi-Agwu In a chat with The PUNCH, revealed that Enyimba have written to CAF and awaits the decision of the football body.

“I’m not really in the position to answer now, we have appealed to CAF and they have also acknowledged our letter saying we have the right to appeal and our match will not hold until the appeal is heard.”

“No one is talking about any match at the moment. We have appealed and we’re waiting for the decision,” he added.
