Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund joins Manchester United in £72 million deal

Rasmus Hojlund, the Danish striker, has completed a £72 million transfer from Atalanta to Manchester United.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the option for an additional 12 months.

Hojlund, who scored 10 goals in 34 games for Atalanta last season, was introduced to fans at Old Trafford before United’s pre-season friendly against Lens.

He expressed his excitement about joining his childhood dream club and his determination to repay the faith shown in him.

Hojlund’s arrival strengthens United’s front line and adds to manager Erik ten Hag’s summer spending, which now totals £150 million.

United’s chief executive, John Murtough, praised Hojlund’s exceptional talent and expressed confidence in his potential for development under ten Hag’s coaching.

Hojlund began his career at HUI and Brondby before moving to Copenhagen and then Sturm Graz, before joining Atalanta.
