Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, believes newly appointed Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard could be a perfect match for the club.
Keown says Gerrard is a young, ambitious coach who got a taste for success in Scotland with a famous old club with an outstanding stadium, facilities and decent squad.
The former Liverpool captain inherited a squad full of options following the dismissal of Dean Smith, and he must have been burning the midnight oil in a bid to find his best eleven as he set to make his debut today.
Villa’s last five league game ended in defeat with Smith resulting to chopping and changing of his squad while trying to accommodate other players, but that couldn’t buy him more time before he was sacked.
With Gerrard in charge of the team now, he will be aiming to instill some much needed consistency and hopefully start with three precious point in his debut against Brighton.
