Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has said they could recruit a midfielder before Monday’s transfer window closes due to worries over Mohamed Elneny’s knee injury.
The Gunners top-scored Leandro Trossard from Brighton for £26 million and also signed Jakub Kiwior from Spezia, which cost around £20 million.
However, they are now considering signing another midfielder as a precaution in case Elneny is unable to play any game this season.
“We have our concerns specifically because Mo never complains about anything,” Arteta stated in an interview on Wednesday.
“His knee issue is being assessed and we will see how it progresses.”
Arsenal will face Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup next.
