Despite Arsenal’s previous interest, football pundit Robbie Mustoe predicts that Ivan Toney will join Chelsea during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s team had shown strong interest in acquiring the Brentford striker prior to the January transfer window.

However, due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) limitations, Arsenal was unable to secure a deal for the 27-year-old.

Nevertheless, Arteta still considers Toney to be a valuable target and may pursue him in the summer transfer window as Arsenal seeks to strengthen their attacking options.

The Emirates Stadium has been mentioned as a potential destination for Toney, especially since Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have not been the most prolific goal scorers for Arsenal this season.

On the other hand, Robbie Mustoe believes that Toney would be a great addition to Chelsea and envisions the striker moving to Stamford Bridge.

Mustoe shared his reasoning during The 2 Robbies Podcast, stating, “I think Chelsea is the fit. If it’s going to be this summer, he’s in the last year of his contract, so £60 million. I think he is a Chelsea-type player for me. We’ve seen Diego Costa, Drogba, aggressive, maverick centre-forwards.”

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are in search of a new striker for their squads in the upcoming transfer window.

Both clubs have been linked with moves for Toney as well as Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

However, without the allure of European football, attracting a player like Toney to Stamford Bridge may prove challenging, particularly if Arsenal becomes more interested.

Arteta’s team can offer Toney a stable environment, a team that has shown promising development and the potential to contend for the league title in the near future.

In contrast, the uncertainty surrounding manager Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea’s inconsistent form may not be as appealing to the English international striker.
