Xabi Alonso Puts Rodrygo, 2 Others Up for Sale at Madrid

Xabi Alonso is wasting no time reshaping Real Madrid after their Club World Cup humiliation, with three first-team stars now reportedly up for sale

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has made a bold statement just days into his reign by placing Dani Ceballos, Brahim Diaz, and Rodrygo on the transfer list following the club’s shocking 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-final, IsaGoal can report.

According to Fichajes, Alonso has decided the trio are no longer part of his plans as he looks to revamp a Real Madrid squad that endured a trophyless 2024/25 campaign.

Rodrygo’s inclusion on the list is the biggest shock.

The Brazilian forward, heavily linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, didn’t play a single minute in Madrid’s humbling loss in New Jersey.

When asked about Rodrygo’s absence, Alonso said: “I didn’t play Rodrygo for a technical decision. We thought we would be better off with other players. It’s not about his future.”

However, insiders believe the decision reflects Alonso’s lack of trust in the 24-year-old, who has only played 92 minutes in the tournament.

Madrid’s defeat to PSG ended their Club World Cup run and deepened concerns about the squad’s competitiveness.

Alonso now looks to raise funds and create space for new arrivals, with Madrid expected to be active in the transfer market this summer.

Premier League clubs are already circling.

Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring Rodrygo’s situation closely, while Ceballos and Brahim Diaz could also attract interest from England.

With Alonso focused on returning Madrid to winning ways, some big names could be heading out the door soon.
