Interim coach of the Super Eagles, Austine Eguavoen says Victor Osimhen’s participation at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations remains in doubt.
Eguavoen, who was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Sunday after the sacking of Gernot Rohr, stated this in an interview with Brila FM.
He noted that Napoli will determine the fate of Osimhen regarding the state of his health for the tournament.
Eguavoen also stated that players such as Dennis Emmanuel, Taiwo Awoniyi and others will stand as capable replacement for him.
“Firstly we hope he is healthy, recovers fully and ensure the club allows him join the squad.”
“However, if this doesn’t work out, I’m sure he’d want the team to goon and do well, but we also have other players Awoniyi, Dennis and others who can deliver.”
