What Future Does Romelu Lukaku Hold At Chelsea?

While it was initially reported that Inter Milan and Chelsea had verbally agreed to extend Romelu Lukaku’s season-long loan deal past 2021, the Italian club has confirmed they will let him return to Graham Potter’s Chelsea team this summer regardless.

CEO Giuseppe Marotta stated that despite the 29-year-old’s limited playing time due to injury, he would still be sent back at the end of June.

This news was later confirmed by Belgium national team coach Thierry Henry who revealed Lukaku did not want to return and wanted to stay at Inter.

Potter, when questioned on the matter before a Premier League match against Leicester City, said “Those discussions and conversations will be made at the end of the season.”
