West Ham United face competition from Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of James Ward-Prowse

West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are both vying for the signature of Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Tottenham, under new manager Ange Postecoglou, are looking to bolster their squad and have already made several signings.

They are now ready to make a move for Ward-Prowse, who has been linked with a return to the Premier League following Southampton’s relegation.

West Ham had been in talks to sign the 28-year-old, but negotiations have stalled due to Southampton’s £40m valuation.

Tottenham could potentially hijack the deal, with Postecoglou keen to refresh his midfield.

Other players in Tottenham’s midfield, such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso, and Tanguy Ndombele, could also be on the move.

Southampton boss Russell Martin has expressed uncertainty about the future of Ward-Prowse and fellow midfielder Romeo Lavia.
