The head coach of Ogun State based NPFL side, Remo Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote, has said that luck was against his side during their 1-0 loss at home to Akwa United in their matchday thirteen of the 2021-2022 NPFL season.
The loss was Sky Blue Stars’ second consecutive loss for the first time this season.
Akwa United snatched a massive away victory courtesy of Remo Stars’ former striker, David Onovo, who netted the game’s only goal after the hosts failed to clear their lines from Seth Mayi’s corner kick in the twenty-seventh minute.
Ogunbote’s Remo Stars side came all out in search of an equalizer but their efforts came to naught.
Speaking with the media after the tie, Gbenga Ogunbote noted that it was difficult to see his boys lose at home because the boys pushed to get goals but the goals weren’t forthcoming.
“We were just unlucky, nothing stops us from picking all three points against Akwa United but sometimes when the hard luck is on your way, there’s nothing you can do. I think the boys gave it all, you could see that in the second half.”
“It was a difficult one because the goals just refused to come, we were not putting it right and our attempts were just inches away from the goal post but sometimes, it’s like that, we will take the positive away from it and move on.”
