Mexican champions Tigres UNAL have secured the services of Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu from Swedish side Linkopings for an undisclosed fee.
The Monterrey based club are the most successful Women football club in Mexico, having won all the four league titles contested in the Liga MX Feminine since it was inaugurated in September 2017.
Ahead of the 2021-22 Liga MX Feminine, Tigres completed the signing of Kanu to boost their squad, and while the paperwork are done and dusted the Nigerian took to her official social media page to announce the deal.
“It was great honour and gratitude that I embrace this incredible opportunity to be a part of this amazing team.” Kanu on her official Instagram page.
“I am super excited to wear the Tigres’ shirt and to work hard and diligently for the best interest of the team.”
With Kanu move to Mexico she will be the first Nigerian footballer to arrive in the Liga MX feminine elite division, and she would be the first in the championship when she makes her debut.
While Kanu is not new to North American football, having played for Florida Southeastern Fire where she broke several goalscoring records netting 155 goals in 55 games she hope to replicate such feat in Mexico.
