Nigeria’s Super Falcons will take on Portugal’s senior women’s team today in a crucial friendly match in Lisbon, IsaGoal can report.
According to Daily Trust, this game will help Nigeria prepare for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations next month in Morocco.
The Falcons landed in Lisbon after flying from Abuja to Casablanca on Sunday morning aboard a Royal Air Maroc flight.
The squad completed visa processes at the Portuguese and Moroccan embassies before departing.
The nine-time African champions trained at the MKO Abiola National Stadium on Thursday evening to kickstart their preparation.
They continued their training sessions at the Turf Arena on Friday and Saturday to build momentum for today’s clash.
Head Coach Justine Madugu supervised the sessions closely with support from his technical team.
Key players in camp include goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie and Tochukwu Oluehi, along with defender Osinachi Ohale.
Midfielders Christy Ucheibe and Francisca Ordega also joined the training drills with the squad.
US-based defender Michelle Alozie and Saudi Arabia-based Ashleigh Plumptre will strengthen the squad further.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and midfielders Halimatu Ayinde, Jennifer Echegini, and Toni Payne are set to feature.
The attacking options include Esther Okoronkwo, Rinsola Babajide, and Chinwendu Ihezuo, who have all linked up in camp.
“We are focused and ready to give our best against Portugal,” said midfielder Halimatu Ayinde.
The match will take place at Estádio José Gomes in Lisbon and will kick off at 7pm local time, the same time in Nigeria.
